AC Davis with the Missoula Fire Department is asking the committee to approve the purchase of two fire engines, one type 1 and one type 2 wildland engine. They will be purchased through Fire Rescue GPO. The total cost is $889,459.00. He checked with WDesk this morning. THey have $580,000.00 in the core replacement for the type 1, and $400,000.00 in the core replacement for the type 2. Michelle asked AC Davis how many engines that would bring the deparmtnet up to. Currently they have five type 1 engines, and 3 reserve type 1 engines. The type 1 engine will replace one of the reserve engines. The Type 2 will replace the type 2 wildland rig they have had in service since 1999. They will continue to have 5 type 1 engines, 3 type 1 reserves, two ladder trucks and the additional wildland engine that is used for wildland and contracted assignments. AC Davis thanked the committee and appreciated the support to allow the department to stick to their 10-year replacement schedule. It is crucial for them to stick to their replacement schedule to have a well-maintained fleet.
